Special Educational Needs & Disability (SEND)

At Peter Pan Playschool we are passionate about ensuring every child is given the chance to thrive and develop. We have a really positive reputation for how well we support families and children with SEND, and have successfully requested Education and Health Care Assessments for many children over the years, as well as providing support in session through enhanced staff ratio’s, small group work, individual targets and even 1:1 support when required.

Venita as SENCO works closely with staff and families as well as outside agencies to ensure any concerns are identified as quickly as possible so support can be put in place, along with any external referrals that may be required.

The EYFS 2 year progress check is completed with parents to ensure any areas of concern are identified as soon as possible so interventions can be put in place to support these areas of learning and development.

If you have any concerns regarding your child’s development prior to starting playschool, please discuss this with a member of staff during your first visit. We will then work closely with you to try to ensure we have the resources available to meet your child’s needs from day one. We receive support from Surrey Early Education Effectiveness team who frequently support and liaise with us regarding Special Educational Needs and Disability, as well as having our own staff trained in SEND. With parental consent we can refer into Speech and Language, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and other therapists. The Surrey Children and Families Team can make wider referrals and have an advice line if you have any concerns Children and families – Healthy Surrey
