Peter Pan Playschool in Bookham was established in 1992 and provides high-quality learning through play for children aged from 2.5 years to 5 years in accordance with the Early Years Foundation Stage. Our staff work in close partnership with parents and carers and we aim to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment which encourages the development of social, personal and emotional skills through creative and physical play.
We offer sessions every morning from Monday to Friday (term time only) with a maximum of 22 children at each session. We operate with excellent staff:child ratios and each child is allocated a member of staff as their Key Person who is responsible for ensuring that the child settles in when they first start at the playschool and who then takes the lead on monitoring and encouraging their progress and development during their time at the playschool.
Our parents tell us time and again that it is our wonderful staff that make Peter Pan Playschool the lovely place it is; the majority of our staff have worked with us for over five years and our Supervisor and Deputy Supervisors have all been with us for ten years plus. We know that our parents really value their considerable expertise and their caring approach, particularly when children are just starting at playschool and need lots of support to feel settled.
The staff at Peter Pan Playschool work very closely with parents to provide the best possible care for each child; parents are encouraged to come along to one whole session every half term (or more if they would like!) and can chat to staff at the beginning and end of each session about their child and how they are getting on. There are also opportunities throughout each year for parents to come and see what their children have been doing eg Nativity Play, Sports Day, and there are a number of social events when parents can meet one another and socialise in a relaxed environment.
Peter Pan Playschool supports children (and their carers) with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, working closely with the Surrey Early Years Team, any other relevant agencies and parents/carers to help encourage their children’s development and learning. We are also an ECAT (Every Child A Talker) programme setting.
